String Ensemble
Course Description This class is designed for students who have completed at least 2 years of orchestral playing. This class is mostly 8th & 9th graders. Students are placed into this class by audition. Students will expand technical and ensemble skills including extended range major scales, more complex rhythmic content and expand their technical and theory skills while performing a large variety of music repertoire of many different genres. In addition to mandatory concerts, students will have the opportunity to participate in county and state festivals and events. Students who take this class are required to practice on their own and are encouraged to take private lessons. Objectives: The following objectives are based on the National Music Education Course Standards, and the North Carolina Music Education Achievement Standards. High school strings objectives expand and build on skills and concepts previously exercised in prior grades. |
