As a member of the Durham School of the Arts String Orchestra Program, students will develop a deeper understanding of their instrument and proper playing technique. Each class will learn and perform ensemble at the appropriate level. Students will also be expected to think critically about various instrumental music listened to in class, as well as the historical and cultural implications of instrumental music.
All students will need the following materials:
Instrument: If you are a new student, please let me know that you've arranged for an instrument and tell me where you got it. Phone: 919.560.3926, ext. 23435 or Email: coming soon If the instrument is used (e.g. found grandparents’violin in the attic), it must be inspected by a trained technician before school begins in August. I can help you find qualified repair technicians. This does not apply to used instruments bought at High Strung or any other retailer. Important: Every instrument case must be labeled with the student's first and last name. You may use masking tape on the case or a luggage tag around the handle. |
